Capricorn - The Sea Goat - December 22nd - January 20th
Capricorn is the tenth astrological sign of the Zodiac originating from the constellation of Capricornus or The Sea Goat. The Sun enters Capricorn at the moment of winter solstice.
In Greek mythology the constellation is often depicted as a goat with a fishes tail, which comes from earlier Egyptian and Babylonian traditions. When Pan, the goat like god, was attacked by the monster Typhon, he dived into the Nile, above the water he remained a goat while below the water he became a fish. The symbol of the goat rising from the body of a fish also represents the mountainous buildings of Babylon emerging from the marshland around the Tigris and Euphrates rivers.
Capricorn is described as a feminine, negative, introverted sign. As an earth sign, Capricorn shows an earthy demeanour. Capricorn is associated with initiation, creativity, and leadership. Like the other cardinal signs, Aries, Cancer and Libra, Capricorn is also considered as forceful and dynamic.
The ruling planet for Capricorn is Saturn, which imposes discipline and conformity.
Capricorn is mostly compatible with Taurus, Virgo, Pisces and Scorpio and other Capricorns.
