Mercury Uranus Opposition

Mercury opposes Uranus on the 8th of December 2026, on the same day that Mercury enters Sagittarius. Mercury represents our intellect, thoughts and communication, while Uranus is associated with intelligence, originality, radical ideas and change. At opposition Mercury can bring more erratic, volatile or unstable tendencies, and Uranus can bring the unexpected. With Mercury moving from Scorpio into Sagittarius as this opposition takes place, thoughts can change direction quickly and something you hear could make you look at a person or situation very differently.

Do not believe that one disappointment tells the whole story.

Someone close could say or do something that you did not expect. A person you thought was a friend may let you down, or a conversation could reveal an opinion that comes as a surprise. Mercury opposite Uranus can make communication unpredictable, and there can be a temptation to react immediately. Give yourself time to think. Not everything will happen immediately.

Uranus itself remains retrograde in Gemini, while Jupiter and Neptune are approaching their own changes of direction on the 14th of December. There is still movement taking place beneath the surface. An unexpected conversation on the 8th does not therefore need an immediate answer, and a difficult situation does not need to be solved in a single day.

Mercury opposite Uranus can bring surprises, sudden changes of mind and conversations that take an unexpected direction.
